Center for Experimental Media Arts

A new media lab at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology. The lab has been generously supported and funded by the Sir Ratan Tata Trust.

Overview

Advanced diploma in Experimental Media Arts (EMA) at Srishti is a practice based two and half year post-graduate program. It provides a framework for students to enhance and consolidate their intellectual and practical achievements by focusing on their own projects. The program offers a stimulating environment where a continuous and independent art practice is encouraged through dialogues with similar practices from other disciplines. While developing their individual practice the students can also have access to the academic space at Srishti.

The EMA students are expected to engage in an ongoing conversation on their work through tutorials, group discussions, symposiums, exhibitions, workshops through an exchange of ideas and skills with fellow students and faculty. The students typically draw on their existing professional and academic backgrounds as starting points for an interdisciplinary practice.

The aim of our program is to encourage students to use any medium in producing artwork either as a working tool or as a presentation tool. We believe that people from different backgrounds and experiences bring different kind of experience and expertise to this collaborative, multi-disciplinary practice. Therefore, we welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds.
