Enviro-Sense

7th July(Tuesday): Aim of the course-Creating five installations/devices using sensors and installing them in five different locations in Bangalore where montoring of the pollution level can be done easily.

Objective- create awareness about growing pollution levels in the city and trying to affect/influence decision makers/suggest possible solutions??

Audience- masses and policy makers -Artists and scientists:interdisciplinary thinking -Discussion about different kinds of pollutants -Davis Dunn's interview": music as an intermediary between humans and their environment -Microcontroller and its functions -LED used for sensors -Ways in which information can be transferred- mobile phones as a medium to transfer information -Eventually, take all the transmitted data and visualise it effectively- make an interface -Social utility -Aesthetics -Propaganda artists -Ecology and Art -Arduino and Processor: start with the basics

-Readings:David Dunn Even though everything sounded very interesting, I was not sure about working with processing and arduino. We also had a discussion about how an individual, or a small group of people like us can't make alot of difference in the entire system, we should work towards making the policy makers notice and think.

8th July(Wednesday): - LED blinking processing-If, Else, For, While, do, Keypress, Key, Mathematical operators Exercises- Making 16 equidistant boxes with alternate rows of a different colour

        - Making each alternate box of a different colour
        - Changing colour using the ‘keypress’ command
        - Using one key to change colour, size etc(using ‘key’).

I was really confused with the processing codes, was feeling really lost. In the beginning it seemed simpler, but now it started getting a bit more complicated.
